I think this tool is awesome!!! It’ll save me time in loading multiple websites, and going from window to window to email, check on webmaster requests, and the like.
I would really like to write an update in a couple of months to see how much time this link manager really saves me in my work. For now, because my 30-day free trial is over, I’m back to the old way of link building.
I’ve decided that this page is to review the things that I have done, and to talk about the new things that I learn daily in the realm of search engine optimization. It’ll help me stay accountable for the time that I use, and it will help me keep track of how much I improve by the end of the summer. I can’t wait to review these posts in 3 months.
RSS feed from Matt Cutts’ “Gadgets, Google, and SEO” blog, I noticed that he posted a video from Google I/O about some site reviews that he and some other Googlers did. It was very enlightening. They gave some great feedback, which helped me understand a little more about what the search engines look for, and how I can help our client companies.
There are a lot of websites that don’t have sufficient content for the search engines to pick up; some websites have way too many affiliate websites, instead of focusing on one or two; and other websites put all of their text into images and slide shows instead of using actual text in the website.

Improve SEO

Advanced Link Manager LogoThere is so much information, it seems almost daunting. From what I understand, the basic way to improve a company’s ranking in search engines is to create as many outside links to the website as possible. There are many different ways to do this, by using social media websites, like Facebook or YouTube, by creating popular online articles and blog posts, and many other ways.
Caphyon has a bunch of software tools ideal for SEO, such as Advanced Link Manager, Advanced Web Ranking, and Advanced Web Stats. But there’s no easy way to take projects from, say, Advanced Link Manager, and put them automatically over to something like Advanced Web Ranking. If that were available, things would be much, much easier in coordinating between the two programs. Or maybe if they made it so that if the software senses that the computer has one of Caphyon’s other software packages, it could automatically integrate the two or three programs together. That way, if I want to check out my web rankings for certain keywords and work on building more back links using Advanced Link Manager at the same time for one of my clients, I don’t have to tie up so many of my computer’s resources having both things open. I know it’s a nit-picky detail, but I would also be able to save time because I wouldn’t have to switch back and forth between windows. All I’d have to do is click on a tab on the window already open.
This tool allows search engine optimizers to create projects and view the progress of your link building activities. I have gone through the tutorial and 30-day free trial, and I do have to say that it is a very sweet program. There are a ton of features that are helpful in the link building process of search engine optimization. I would suggest going through the tutorial in order to understand how to use the features of this program, because in 10 minutes of going through the tutorial, I have learned more about how to use the software than the 2 ½ weeks that I tried to figure it out.
The tutorial took me through all of the links that refer to my website across the web. I got their URLs, page rank, Alexa rank, number of outbound links that website has, and some other factors. I thought that it was pretty cool that those bits of information were available so readily to me. I could tell what links were really helping my page rank and search engine ranking, and which links were just another back link. The Referrers Report could also tell me the links of my competitors’ websites, so that I could determine which websites would provide good, strong back links for my website.
Advanced Link Manager is a tool that allows you to determine link popularity of your website. In other words, how many websites link to your website? How strong and reliable are those websites?
Honestly, they had a ton of search engines listed that I had never heard of, but then they still called Bing by its predecessor’s name, MSN). The process for the company that I chose first took about 1 hour and 45 minutes to complete.
you can keep track of several different URLs, such as your client and their competitors. I can see what sort of link building efforts my competitors are using, and I can circumvent their progress against my website by mimicking their link building activities and adding my own building on top of that. I love being able to know what my competition is doing quickly, and this software package.
I think the idea of having the software package scrape the website for webmaster information is genius!!! However, I think it would be an even more powerful tool if setting up email was easier to do. The account I was linking to Advanced Link Manager was a Google partner account, and Google has all the information as to how to set up the SMTP settings, along with either POP3 or IMAP settings so that the program can work right. Even with Google’s instructions, it took a trial-and-error process of about 20 minutes before I figured out how to send emails through the software package. Well, at least it’s set up now. Once your email is set up, contacting webmasters is a cinch. They have some automated messages that can be used, but I prefer the more personal approach. So, what I chose to do was make a template email with some human flavor to the language (so the webmaster knows that I’m not a spammer) and I saved it. Then, going through the list was easy enough. The process of requesting an inbound link from a webmaster typically takes me 3 or 4 minutes to do. I look on the competitor website’s inbound links, find the webmaster information, read the content of the page (to see if it’s truly relevant to my clients), and I send the webmaster an email saying that they should add our site. The part of the process that takes up most of my time is that of finding webmaster information. With Advanced Link Manager, not only does the software find their information, but it’s ready for sending an email to that sender right away.
The wizard asks you to type in some keywords for some good potential link partners, and then it scrapes the web, looking for strong websites, blogs, and stuff like that, for the keywords you specified in their content. Saves me a lot of time in looking things using a search engine. While it’s searching the web, I can work on my squidoo lenses or something to pass the time. Then, once the list is there, you just double-click the URLs that pop up, and check out the websites to find the best place to put your link.

Advanced Web Ranking

There were several different ways that I could input keywords for the program to check for me on a particular
project. That was very awesome! I really love things that permit a myriad of different ways to do any one thing. Making things customizable is a big plus for me, because then I can choose the way that Iprefer to do things.
Working as a small-time SEO specialist means that I need to justify my worth to my clients. Being able to tailor the reports of my activities for my clients means that I can I can very easily show clients how my efforts assist their company on several levels.
I can export the reports using several different formats, like tab-separated values (TSV), comma-separated values (CSV), .pdf (Public Document Format, used in conjunction with Adobe Reader and Acrobat). This way, my numbers and reports can be directly integrated.

Learning to Use Advanced Link Manager to Improve SEO

SEO tools, my boss led me to Caphyon’s website again for another software package called Advanced Web Ranking. This package is an awesome keyword research tool, used to check up on where your website is ranking among its keyword competitors. After going through the 30-day free trial, I was able to do some sweet things with it. This review will be slightly different than my review for Advanced Link Manager, as I will be listing the many things that I liked, the things that I did not like, and the suggestions that I have for improvement. If nothing more, do check it out.
Advanced Link Manager: integrate programs. If you use Advanced Link Manager and Advanced Web Ranking and Advanced Web Stats, I think that settings and projects should be shared amongst the three programs automatically. That way, if I get a new client, I don’t have to commit three or four hours creating the project and uploading online information into my system.

What does Kumo mean? After a bit of searching I found that Kumo means either “cloud” or “spider” in Japanese. Seems like ZDnet did a pool in early august asking their readers how Microsoft can re-brand their Live Search? And in the polling option the author of the article added “Kumo” as an option and thats how this word came into the picture.

Can Changing 4 Letters?

I can’t make any ‘expert’ comment on whether KUMO is better than Live. But personally I’d say that its a horrible name if they go forward with it. Andy Beal points out that, Kumo has too many different spelling errors just waiting to happen– koomo, cumo, Komo etc.
Moreover why would they want to adapt a Japanese name where their biggest target market should be USA & Europe? If they want to make a specialized search engine to compete with the Japanese ones, then I guess its acceptable to have a localized name for the engine. So for instance typing in Kumo.com can simply bring the visitors to Live Search Japan.
I think the question is whether ‘re-branding’ Live is just enough for Microsoft? Because I certainly don’t think so. If Google changes its name to “CrazyFrog” I’d still go there because I find their search engine useful for my work and research.
Barry pointed out in Search Engine Roundtable that Microsoft can’t even index a site properly. And Its actually true! If you take 5 minutes of your time and actually compare the result of Live.com & Google.com it will be absolutely clear to you that Live is still not ready to rock the search industry. They are just far away from anything but useful. So re-branding the search engine can’t save them or make them popular over night.

Windows Domain information

Upgrading from DS 6.9 177 to DS 6.9 SP1 our system account can not run configuration tasks after imaging.

As you can see I have checked
AUTOMATICALLY PERFROM CONFIGURATION TASK AFTER COMPLETETING IMAGE TASK.

AND
BOOT TO PRODUCTION TO COMPLETE IMAGING TASK.

Here is the strange thing. After it fails it gives a 122 error code.
If I run a manual configuration to join to the domain (same credentials) then it works without issue. Any ideas.

SP1 update, for the time being i'm going to write a netdom script that joins the PC to the domain as a work around.
Our solution was replacing the Aclient in our image with the latest and greatest. Seems to fix the problem-must be a compatibility problem with the Aclient versions.
(Installation files firmed down to the image and a runonce key executing a .bat file to install the agent, for those who were wondering) We updated our agent to the version of DAgent shipped with SP1 and that's when the problem started for us.
